Our Services

Information & Referral (I&R)

Information and referrals are provided to individuals who request assistance with disability-related issues that DRRI does not handle, does not have the resources to take on, or that fall outside our Focus Areas. If we cannot assist a caller with a specific issue, we will offer information and referral resources.

Advice & Self-help Materials

Some callers may ask for advocacy support. DRRI attorneys and legal advocates may offer advice or provide resources to help individuals advocate for themselves. Staff may also provide short-term advocacy assistance and technical assistance to people with disabilities.

Individual Representation

DRRI provides legal representation to help individuals advance and protect their civil and constitutional rights. These services align with DRRI’s Focus Areas and may include legal and administrative proceedings in state and federal courts. Our work focuses on systemic change to benefit as many people as possible.

Advocacy for Systemic Reform

DRRI legal staff may identify issues that affect multiple clients or groups and develop
strategies to address these systemic challenges.

Investigations & Monitoring

DRRI investigates reports of abuse and neglect of people with disabilities. We also monitor places where individuals with disabilities live, receive services, or go to school. As part of our access authority, DRRI has the legal right to visit these places and interview individuals with disabilities.
